Evolution of the Beaches in the Regional Park of Salinas and Arenales of San Pedro del Pinatar (Southeast of Spain) (1899–2019)

Coastal erosion is anissuewhich affects beaches all over the world and that signifies enormous economic environmental losses. Classed as a slow phenomenon, evolution of coastline requires long-term analysis. In this study, old cartography aerial photographs from various dates have been used to study coastline. The information has processed with free software (QGIS) for calculation sediment transport Modeling System (SMC) software. results show accretion/erosion phenomena occurred after construction port in San Pedro del Pinatarin 1954 which changed coastal dynamics highly protected area. some sectors, beach reduced almost its entirety, retreat rates up ?2.05 m per year total area loss 66,419.81 m2 Las Salinas 76,891.13 on Barraca Quemada beach.
